Logical Non Sequitur

Hi, this is Peggy presenting a prompt left to us in draft form by Dani, who due to health issues, can no longer participate with us at Poetry Jam. So I have made a few tweaks and rearranged things a bit but most of what follows is from Dani. We hope you will be feeling better soon, Dani, and thank you for you many contributions.

Some people are just naturally very logical, using clear reasoning in most thinking.  Others make logical leaps that might be based on feelings or emotions. Then there is just random thinking where conclusion do not seem to follow clearly and one may come up with a non sequitur.

Non sequitur--one of those words many of us are familiar with but whose definition remains vague.  So here it is from  Dani, in her words:

non se·qui·tur

/ˌnän ˈsekwitər/
Noun
A conclusion or statement that does not logically follow from the previous argument or statement.

If you watched the original Star Trek® television series, subsequent series or movies then you probably remember that Mr. Spock is half Vulcan and half human. Vulcans make decisions based solely upon logic. We all know that human beings not only have emotions, we are often not in control of them. Poor Mr. Spock had to deal with both aspects of his lineage.

This week's prompt is a threefer ~ being logical, being illogical, being emotional. Take your pick of one or more for your poem. Some suggestions for this prompt are:

Write a poem about logic, illogic and/or emotions ie: the pros and cons of one or all.

Write about a personal or fictional experience when decisions were made based on either logic or emotions or were illogical in some way, and the outcome or why it would have been better to have used a different kind of thinking.

Write about a character or a society with or without either logic or emotions, but not both.

Write something totally illogical.

Write about a specific emotion like love, anger, jealousy

Write about something in the Star Trek® universe if you don't want to get logical or emotional  {smile}.

Write about any idea this prompt sparks, somehow tied into logic or emotions or the illogical.

Please write a new poem for this prompt;  link it in with Mr. Linky;  leave us a comment below. And please visit other participants and please leave them a comment, too!

Thank you for jamming with us!

  8. I suspect my illogical entry responds well to the prompt. It fit my current circumstance perfectly. Nice to participate here.
