Greetings, Poetry Jam Friends. This week I would like you to think about Danger.
Present danger. Past danger. Imagined danger. Think about an experience you had that was dangerous. Think about a time when you sensed danger. Or when you imagined danger! Here are a few quotes I liked:
Avoiding danger is no safer in the long run than outright exposure. The fearful are caught as often as the bold. -- Helen Keller
The danger of the past was that men became slaves. The danger of the future is that man may become robots. -- Erich Fromm
During the first period of a man's life the greatest danger is not to take the risk. -- Soren Kierkegaard
In this world there is always danger for those who are afraid of it. -- George Bernard Shaw

Good luck, Dani. What a pain.
DeleteI wish I could write as others seem to do in response to prompts. I often start when I read the prompt and finish some days or even weeks later. That's why I'm always back here after the lights are out and everyone has gone home. That's my way of saying, I'll be thinking about danger...on the lookout for it...and I'll be content to read you guys until I'm sufficiently danger-filled!
ReplyDeleteKaren, I will look forward to reading your poem! Thanks for being such a loyal supporter.
DeleteI think I'm going mad, now I'm writing about cake :) -oh well, at least I'm expressing it
ReplyDeleteMade me smile, Emma.
DeleteHi --I will be posting my danger poem soon--as soon as I decided which poem to post as I came up with a couple while I was on the run the past few days. I am going now to read the postings already here!
ReplyDeleteI read your poem, Peggy! Glad you made a decision.
DeleteHi Mary, thanks for a thought-provoking prompt! I put a positive spin on it. Enjoy! :)
ReplyDeleteA positive spin can be a good thing!! Love the photos within your post.
DeleteThank you for the idea, i had to think hard with this one, certainly kept the grey cells active. Alan
ReplyDelete....hello Mary... thanks for the prompt... i was tempted to write... for me, the feeling of unable to express yourself freely in the wild, to play with nature and other beings for you're always bound to meet perfection and expectations always signals danger or at least may lead to such state... and the next things are the hardest to predict...
ReplyDelete...my first time and hope you don't mind a stranger intruding his poem in here... smiles...
woot kelvin here!!! smiles.
DeleteKelvin, so happy to see you!!!! You are NO stranger at all.
ReplyDeleteAlan / Mametz, I commented on your blog post; but I know my comment went right into your spam. Dani, if you see this note, when you comment on Alan's, could you mention he should check his spam..
ReplyDeleteHi--Posted late and forgot to link! Thank you Mary :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat to see you, Sara!
DeleteBeing new to Poetry Jam, I hope I did the right thing to just post without registering with you beforehand, Mary. If I've jumped the gun, oops!
ReplyDeleteNow, I'm off to see what others have offered up ... cheers!
Glad you joined us, Susan. Hope to see you every week. No registering necessary. Your poem link is the only 'registration' needed. It was a good one, by the way. Kind of reminded me of what I wrote.
DeleteJust discovered this site. Have linked a poem first posted in 2011, as its subject seems to fit this theme. Here's the link:

Glad to see you here, James!
DeleteHi Mary. It's my first time here. Glad to join in.
ReplyDeleteGlad to see some new posters. Welcome. And thank you all for visiting my blog. Several asked what happened when the pavement ended in my poem. Well, not nearly so dramatic as not revealing it but it was just the end of the pavement and the dirt road went on. It was after all very rural Mexico.
ReplyDeleteSome of you are being spammed by Patrycja Photography!! I noticed at least Kelvin and Peggy. Perhaps more of you. I do hope you will delete that person's comment....he is only looking for followers for himself!
ReplyDeleteJust wondering how you know this is spam. And is there some danger in leaving the comment? I just thought it was someone who made a general comment on my blog. I did not follow the link as I do not follow people on FB and this seemed to be what it was about. Thanks for the heads up.
Delete...thanks Mary for the reminder... i'm not active in fb... it wasn't as interesting as blogging (for me) so no worries... smiles...
DeleteHe is posting his comment all over the place. He is basically recruiting for his own blog.
DeleteMy dangerous situation only occured a few hours before I wrote this poem. I have decided to write a poetry diary for a while. If I were living in a nice quiet suburb I am sure I would not be having these experiences but I am not.
ReplyDeleteand I am sure danger is always in the eye of the beholder to some degree.
ReplyDeleteDanger is in the eye of the beholder and as I add this second post may be necessary to go beyond and to to the next door in your life journey
